Class details

graded jazz

In Jazz you will learn to develop many different jumps, leaps, turns and dynamic movements to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles.

Classes are structured to begin to prepare the physical strength and flexibility required to demonstrate emotion through interpretation of any musical genre.

One minute you may be dancing to the rhythm of a drum, the next to a funky jazz style. You may explore contrast between expansion and relaxation or learn to isolate in a slick stylish mood.

Our jazz classes are broken down into grades depending on the students age and ability:
Preparatory Jazz (age 4-7), Primary Jazz (age 7-9) Grade 1 Jazz (age 8-11), Grade 3 Jazz (age 10-13), Grade 4/5 Jazz (age 12+)

During this class students will work on jazz technique through corner work and centre exercises as well as learning choreography. We will work to develop flexibility, rhythm and coordination whilst building confidence and having lots of fun.

Our jazz classes follow the IDTA syllabus.

Students in these classes will have the opportunity to take exams, take part in competitions/ festivals and perform in shows.
